As a girl growing up in a predominantly male dominated family, I was always “pushed to the sidelines” because I was a girl and couldn’t do what the boys were doing… I was not your typical girl who wore pretty pink dresses and played with dolls and tea cups, but rather somewhat of a rebel and played with cars and toy guns wore pants and tops and couldn’t understand why boys were allowed a lot more freedom than girls. Eventually, as an adult I came to understand that this was due to the deep Indian heritage and culture my parents and their parents grew up with. All this while there was this fire raging inside me to show that I was just as capable of anything any boy could do.
At the age of 19, I got my first job, it was at a Bank, how boring, right? Little did I know that this new path I had taken would turn out to be another great adventure. I met the most inspirational and diverse people who have shaped me in ways I didn’t even know needed shaping. I have grown in the company of these leaders into my authentic self.
I was at a leadership course recently where we were tasked to come up with a passion project, something that was important to me and work with it over a 3-month period to achieve the outcome I desired?” this really got me thinking about my life and where I am today. I thought long and hard about the many challenges and obstacles I had overcome in my life and wondered how could I make a difference to people’s lives?
Then, on one of my overseas travels I was invited to attend a dinner function with very influential people in the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery industry. Since this was a formal event I found myself in my hotel room, standing in front of the mirror with a bag full of cosmetics and I had no idea what to do with most of the stuff in the bag… that’s when my mind said to me you should have learnt how to be a “girl” ….
It was You Tube to the rescue that night, for it had turned me into a princess. I spoke to many Aesthetic and Plastic surgery professionals that evening and my passion for skincare, beauty and Aesthetics had ignited and after that the fire kept on growing slowly while realizing and learning that skincare is a lot more than just make up.
I eventually decided to start my own small business called NAZthetics, which is a combination of my name and Aesthetics. This combination symbolizes the personal care and attention from me in bringing only the best, clinically proven and environmentally friendly skincare range of products to hydrate, revitalize and rejuvenate your skin making you look younger and restoring your confidence to go out there and be your very best.
